Today we provided windshield replacement for an awesome customer just north of Austin, Tx in Round Rock, Tx (78664). The service was Nissan windshield replacement, specifically a “2012 Nissan Armada.” She called in on Friday for a quote and subsequently scheduled mobile windshield replacement at their location for today (Monday). From the very beginning she was polite, witty and really easy to work with. She wasn’t focused on price or concerned with having it done immediately. Instead she just wanted to have it done properly whenever we had time. Ironically, we could have provided same-day service, but it worked out better to do it today. When the technician called ahead to let her know he was on the way she answered on the first call and said she was ready. When we arrived the vehicle was in the perfect position for the work to be completed; plenty of space and on a level ground. Again, she was very polite with our auto glass installer and didn’t look over his shoulder the entire time. Not to say that you can’t watch, but sometimes customers seem to look for mistakes before they even happen. The observer can almost influence a mistake this way, as I’m sure you can imagine.
2012 Nissan Armada Windshield
Replacing a Nissan Armada windshield (FW02391GBN) is somewhat routine in the auto glass industry.
As with any windshield replacement in Austin or central Texas please try to park in a shaded area and leave your windows down slightly prior to install to reduce temperature of the vehicle.
The Armada windshield is larger than most, but not nearly as large as say a Isuzu NPR windshield and much larger than a Jeep Wrangler windshield. Like almost all Nissan windshields the moulding (molding or trim) is a separate part required for windshield replacement. The Armada windshield moulding is less than $20 wholesale, but be sure this is included in your quote as the price given “after the fact” or once an auto glass company is already working on your vehicle is likely to be a lot higher. I’m sure we’ve all had auto repairs that seems to get suspiciously higher than the
original quote, so no surprise here. For removal, tolerances are average between the pinch-weld and the glass which allows for moderately easy removal. Installing or setting the a new Armada windshield can be difficult without a second set of hands or mechanical assistance. However, a fit man 6′ or taller can likely handle it without much of an issue.
Like all new windshields, once installed no power washing or off-roading for 72 hours. You can drive the vehicle after install, but don’t slam your doors shut without rolling down the windows slightly to keep the pressure from causing a blowout in the windshields urethane. Of course, the best practice is to shut your doors gently for the next 24 hours. After 24 hours any tape placed across the top of the windshield to keep it in place can be removed.
