    Lying inside the Chicago metropolitan area, Munster is a town in Lake County, Indiana. Bordered by Hammond in the north, Highland in the east, Dyer to the south and Lansing and Lynwood to the west in Illinois, Muster is situated on the east side of the state line between Illinois and Indiana.     Munster, IN incorporated in 1907 when the 104 residents of the town voted in favor of incorporation with a vote of 76 for and 28 against. People flocked to Munster shortly thereafter and the town grew. Much of the town's early success can be attributed to Jacob Munster who built the town's first general store which also offered residents a U.S. Postal station. This postal station became an often relied on resource for residents of the area and before long, the postal station became an official United States Post Office.

    Although Munster, like many other towns in the United States, suffered greatly during the Great Depression, it was able to recover and today, Munster, Indiana is a booming town filled with history and plenty of recreational activities for its residents to enjoy.
