Auto Glass in Round Rock Texas

Voted America’s seventh best small city to live in by Money Magazine in 2008, Round Rock was the only Texas city to break the top ten on the list. Round Rock has built a reputation for being a place where a family can earn a decent living and get a good education for their children with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) ranking Round Rock’s independent school system among the best in the state. There are 42 schools in the Round Rock Independent School district and not a single one received an unacceptable rating from the TEA. Round Rock was also named the second fastest growing city in the United States in 2009.

Round Rock is located twenty-minutes north of Austin, Texas in Travis and Williamson counties. The estimated population as of the 2008 census is 104,446 residents. It shares the 512 area code with its surrounding counties.

Originally named Brushy Creek, Round Rock was formed in 1851 on the banks of Brushy Creek with the name by which it is now known adopted by residents in 1854. Each year, one of the most historically prominent events that took place in Round Rock is reenacted in Old Settlers Park as part of the July 4th Frontier Days Celebration. The ‘Sam Bass Shootout’ as it has come to be known, commemorates the July 19th, 1878 capture, and death, of Sam Bass; a nineteenth century train robber. Bass is buried in Red Rock Cemetery and the original tombstone that marked his grave is on display at the Red Rock Public Library.
