Marble Falls was founded by the Texas Mining and Improvement Company in 1887 and it would be this company that would offer the first lots for sale on the land. The Texas Mining and Improvement Company was formed by Adam R. Johnson, a former general in the Confederate States Army, to fulfill his dream of making Marble Falls his home. He fell in love with the area the first time he saw the incredible countryside and beautiful natural marble falls. He held on to this dream even though he lost his eyesight in battle in 1864.
